Warranty & Returns Policy

This Warranty & Returns Policy explains the warranty coverage, return process, and your rights when purchasing from Thunder Store.

We specialise in quality refurbished ex-lease and second-hand IT products. All items are tested prior to sale and supplied in working order unless otherwise stated in the product description.

 

Warranty coverage

Unless otherwise stated, all products sold by Thunder Store are supplied with a 12-month Return-to-Base (RTB) hardware warranty, effective from the date of purchase as shown on your invoice or receipt.

This warranty covers hardware components supplied by Thunder Store only.

 

What is covered

The warranty covers faults arising from normal use where the issue relates to a hardware component supplied by Thunder Store and is confirmed after assessment.

If a fault is confirmed and covered:

  • We will repair or replace the item at our discretion

  • Repairs are typically completed within 3–7 business days from receipt of the item, subject to parts availability

  • Once repaired, the item will be returned using our standard courier service

 

What is not covered

The warranty does not cover:

  • Software issues, operating system problems, or corrupted file systems

  • Issues caused by software updates, configuration changes, or user-installed software

  • Any hardware or software modifications not performed by Thunder Store

  • Damage caused by misuse, accidents, liquid ingress, foreign objects, or unauthorised repairs

  • Faults or cosmetic imperfections clearly disclosed in the product description

 

Consumable items

Consumable items are not covered by warranty, including but not limited to:

  • Batteries

  • Projector lamps

  • Toner and ink

Batteries supplied with refurbished devices are second-hand unless explicitly stated as brand new. Battery performance, charge time, and lifespan vary depending on prior use and treatment and are therefore excluded from warranty coverage.

 

Faults on arrival or transit damage

If an item arrives faulty or is damaged in transit, you must notify us within 7 days of delivery.

You must contact us before returning any item. Returns sent without prior approval may not be accepted.

 

Return process

Under the Consumer Guarantees Act, the original purchaser is responsible for returning the item to our premises for assessment, unless otherwise agreed.

Once received, we will assess the item and confirm whether the fault is covered under warranty.

 

Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA)

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

This warranty is in addition to your rights under the CGA. If a product has a major failure under the Act, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund as applicable.

 

Change of mind & order cancellations

We do not have to provide a refund for change-of-mind purchases where the item is not faulty.

If you wish to cancel an order or return an item due to a change of mind:

  • The item must be unused and in resalable condition

  • A 20% restocking fee plus a $25 admin fee will apply

  • Shipping costs are non-refundable

This does not affect your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
